CzechCrunch Introduces Konstanta Karlín: Contemporary Living with Respect for Industrial Heritage
The Konstanta Karlín project was recently featured by CzechCrunch, which highlighted the ongoing transformation of the Karlín district and the emergence of a new residential building in close proximity to Karlín Square.
Konstanta Karlín will offer 44 apartments ranging from one- to three-room layouts with kitchenettes, along with three commercial units at street level. A key feature of the project is an exceptional 351 m² penthouse with a private entrance and its own dedicated lift. Completion of the development is scheduled for the second quarter of next year.
Industrial Heritage as Part of the Identity
An integral part of the project is the original 30-metre-high chimney of the former power plant of the Křižík Works, which has been retained and now forms a defining landmark of the new building.
The project’s industrial character is further reinforced by a corten steel façade made from weather-resistant steel. Its natural patina references the site’s historical past while giving the building a distinctly contemporary architectural expression.
Urban Design and Activation of the Ground Floor
The project builds on Karlín’s traditional perimeter block structure and is divided into two distinct volumes. A public passage between them creates a pedestrian connection between Kollárova Street and the landscaped inner courtyard garden.
An active ground floor with commercial units complements the residential use and contributes to a vibrant urban environment in the wider area surrounding Karlín Square.
The article presents Konstanta Karlín as a project that forms part of the broader transformation of Karlín, demonstrating how historical context can be thoughtfully integrated into contemporary real estate development.
